OTC provided comprehensive, consultative, evaluative services and training in the clinical disciplines of occupational and physical therapy, speech-language pathology and behavioral health. These services were delivered using a brief, time-limited case consultation perspective that emphasized collaboration and a consultative approach.
-
In 1999, OTC was one of the original agencies selected by the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) to support adults ages 21 and over, through their program, the Integrated Therapeutic Network (ITN). We were responsible for the delivery of habilitative speech, occupational, physical and behavioral services to individuals who resided in the community.
-
In 2005, the Division launched a related program and selected OTC as the ITN’s “Network Coordination and Management Agency (NCMA), in two of the Division’s four regions (North and Upper Central). The individuals resided, worked and participated in various types of community based programs. (2005-2008*). *Program discontinued 2008

We assisted the individual and their circle of support with the necessary resources and dissemination of information through comprehensive resource databases, (i.e. Real Life Choices, Family Support Center of NJ). We provided training and intervention strategies for the individual, their caregivers, support staff, peer, etc. as well as the identification of additional community resources, accessibility to transportation, etc.
-
We embed our services within the individual’s natural environments, thus facilitating staff mentorship, presenting opportunities for informal training, and furthering the understanding of all caregivers to support the plan.

Our consultative approach has been an effective tool for implementation of therapeutic strategies to support the person in his/her daily life environments. This has allowed us to effectively address varied and unique individual and environmental needs existing in each of our client systems.
